Communications Coordinator

Title: Communications Coordinator Status:     Full-time

Reports to: Executive Director Salary:      DOQ

The Communications Coordinator will ensure implementation and success of DWH communications. This individual will maintain the Dream of Wild Health brand and vision and is responsible for the creation, coordination and dissemination of external communications, including (but not limited to) day-to-day communications, ad-hoc requests, large project work, written/print communications, and online and social media presence. The Communications Coordinator will have demonstrated ability in engaging key stakeholders, including Native American community members, executives, leaders and funders. 

Responsibilities & Expectations:

    • Be part of the Dream of Wild Health community
    • Attend staff trainings and weekly team meetings
    • Communicate regularly with team and provide regular communications updates 
    • Build positive relationships with key partners, funders and community members
  • Provide support to the team to ensure communications goals and objectives are met
  • Maintain a positive social media and website presence through content development and engagement
  • Work with team to coordinate and develop weekly and monthly newsletters for dissemination
  • Lead event promotions, outreach and engagement through several media outlets
    • Responsible for tracking all internal and published media
    • Responsible for maintaining media platforms with the latest information
  • Respond to media and general inquiries in a timely manner 
    • Maintain communications plans and employee manual specific to this position and activities
  • Onboard new staff by sharing organizational communications guidelines and expectations
  • Facilitate printing of brochures and other media with external vendors, funders and partners
  • Develop annual report, annual fundraising campaign materials and other communications
  • Coordinate projects requiring graphic design for digital, print materials, photography and videography
  • Ensure that communications are accurate and consistent with DWH mission and cultural values
  • Provide program support such as coordinating events at the farm, in the community and online
  • Assist in event activities and other duties as assigned



  • Two or Four year degree; or equivalent experience required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit communications efforts
  • Experience with graphic design, media platforms and software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with staff and partners
  • Experience working with Native American community (must have basic cultural understanding)

Some travel may be required, including to the farm in Hugo and office in Minneapolis. Must have ability to stand and sit for long periods of time; and flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
