Ashley Monk (they/she) is an activist farmer, social justice organizer, and radical mycologist. They also practice radical community health care, and work with a mutual aid collective. Ashley has practiced regenerative agriculture and mycology with urban and rural farming projects in the midwest and New York, including managing a bio-intensive greenhouse at Stone Barns, working with a queer and womxn owned workers cooperative farm in NY, practicing agroforesty and medicinal plant cultivation in the Catskills, managing a startup aquaponics farm with Will Allen Farms, working with Growing Power in WI, supporting Urban Growers Collective in Chicago, and farming at Women’s Environmental Institute where they started a mushroom growing operation and taught mushroom growing classes. They are passionate about dismantling racism in the food system and have worked with the Young Farmers Coalition and elsewhere organizing farmers and community members around reparations toward collective liberation.
